Atlantic Beach offers more than two miles of sandy shoreline along with parks, trails and preserved natural areas throughout the community. Residents can spend time at the beach, walk or bike through neighborhood streets, explore wooded parks, or head west toward the Intracoastal for kayaking, fishing and marsh views.
Two of the standout natural areas are Dutton Island Preserve, with trails, picnic areas, fishing access and a kayak launch, and Tide Views Preserve, which offers trails, boardwalks, Intracoastal views and canoe/kayak access.

Atlantic Beach sits close to Mayport and some of Jacksonville’s best-known coastal recreation. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park offers 1.5 miles of beach, a freshwater lake, hiking and mountain-bike trails, kayaking, fishing, camping and other outdoor recreation.
Just north, Mayport Village sits where the St. Johns River meets the Atlantic Ocean and remains tied to Jacksonville’s fishing and shrimping heritage. The nearby St. Johns River Ferry also provides a direct connection across the river
